Scream Opening Scene(1996)
At the beginning of the scene there is a calm atmosphere being at home, the scene begins to speed up when the phone is loudly ringing and is focused into a extreme close up. Using the extreme close up to focus on the phone makes the audience realise that the phone is a big part to the film. Throughout the scene and film whenever the phone rings it is always shown in a extreme close up camera shot. They also use this method throughout the scene with the popcorn cooking on the stove, this could represent that the clock is ticking because popcorn does not take very long to cook.

The first scene of scream has a very typical horror setting, surrounded by fields and woods with no neighbours near by. This helps with the film because it gives off a very scary vibe. The fact that this scene is also set at night time also plays with the audience minds and fits well with the setting.

The murderer in Scream has a very odd costume, the costume that Ghostface wears is a typical halloween costume which kids wear every halloween. The costume comes across scary because you can not see Ghostface's face, you can only hear his very scary voice.
